When will smartphone insiders stop leaving their prototype phones in bars? It has happened yet again with the Nexus 5. Luckily, the person who found the phone took pictures of the device so everyone can see what’s coming up next for Nexus phone users. According to TechRadar, the Nexus 5 is set to be announced and released at the end of October or beginning of November. It is one of the most anticipated upcoming phones, so let’s take a look at what the latest leaks have revealed.

Leaks About The Nexus 5

Appearance

The phone found at the bar reads “Not for Sale” across the back, but it is clearly made by LG. LG was also the manufacturer of the Nexus 4 smartphone. The phone’s front face is clear of any buttons, a common feature among the Nexus line of phones. The phone’s shape is less rounded than in previous versions. It looks like most of the other smartphones out on the market these days, at least from the exterior.

Memory

Previous versions of Nexus phones and tablets have been devoid of any expandable memory. The same is expected of the Nexus 5. Much to the chagrin of Nexus phone users, this new version will likely not have microSD support. Instead, the phone manufacturer may offer 32GB and 64GB options for those who need more than the standard 16GB of internal storage. The model has 2GB of RAM.

Updated Version of Android

The Nexus 5 will be one of the first phones to feature the updated version of Android 4.4 called KitKat. This new OS is expected to make some changes to core Android apps, such as the Android camera and the Gallery apps. These will now be available in Google Play to allow for standalone installation and updating without requiring an update for the entire OS. In fact, the Nexus 5 phone was featured in a Google promotional video for their newest version of the Android operating system. In that video, the phone seemed to have a large camera and a matte black finish on the phone’s exterior. Unfortunately, Google took down the video before the latest leaks about the phone spread.

Camera and Display

The phone that has been leaked in photos and identified as the LG model D820 (aka the Nexus 5). “In a blog post by www.contractphoneswithfreegifts.com” it was confirmed that the phone features a large camera with an 8-megapixel lens on the rear and a 1.2-megapixel lens on the front. The phone has also been found under the codename “Hammerhead”. It will have a full HD display with a 5-inch screen. The processor is typical of most other smartphones on the market; it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Like most smartphones, the Nexus will be bigger with a more vivid display. Unlike Apple phones, which are moving in the direction of being smaller and more compact, all the other manufacturers seem to be moving in the other direction. As phones are used more and more to watch and create videos, larger displays will be more in demand.
